Attend Church (Poem)

You say that you believe in God,

You attend church,

You say that you’re good because you believe in God,

You say that you’re good because you attend church,

You have a wrong assumption of church and God.

God didn’t hurt others,

God didn’t make others feel bad about themselves,

You hurt others,

You make others feel bad about themselves,

You aren’t good like God if you make others feel bad about themselves or hurt others.

Still you sit there in church and act like what you have done is okay,

You act like you can mistreat and still be seen as good,

Yet what you have done isn’t okay,

You can’t mistreat and still be good,

Still there are many in church who think mistreating is okay.

That’s why I learned not to assume that someone is good because they attend church,

A good person doesn’t mistreat others,

That’s why I learned not to assume that someone is bad when they don’t attend church,

A bad person mistreat others,

So no, whether you are a good or bad person doesn’t depend on whether you do or don’t attend church.
