Twisted Liar (Poem)

You called me a liar,

The tears fell,

I tried desperately to convince you that I wasn’t a liar,

You didn’t believe the tears that fell,

In your eyes I was a liar.

Then I realized it wasn’t I that was a liar,

You called me a liar to cover up your lies,

You twisted it so I wouldn’t see that you were the liar,

Sadly, my naivete made me believe your lies,

I walked away thinking that you believed I was  a liar.

Time passed and you tried to play the same game,

Yet I wasn’t the same naive woman,

I didn’t fall for your game,

Experience and pain turned me into a wise woman,

I saw the truth and angered you for not falling for your game.
